Just got done watching the knife friendly show N.C.I.S., the imfamous Gibb's Rule #9 "Always carry a knife" is still in effect it seems.

The main character Gibbs (Mark Harmon) pulled out a Kershaw Leek and handed it to a North Korean agent to disarm a bomb with. Several close up shots of the knife, and when she handed it back to him they actually paused for about 3 seconds on the knife laying flat in his hand so you could read the name on it.

Cool show!

Yep, I seen that one! Nice knife. Was that a 50/50 edge? Was eating my popcorn & got a little distracted.

it sure looked 50/50 to me! they did seem to pause the shot of the returned knife in his palm.:)

Yep, it was a 50/50 edge. NCIS is one awesome show, even thought they killed KATE!!!!!, but it consistently shows good guys using knives for good reasons.

I really like how they treat knives in that show. Sometimes I watch it just to support their knife use!

I've seen them open mail, cut rope and other stuff with their knives, no silly knife fighting scenes. They use their EDC's as most of us do everyday. Plus, there must be somebody behind the cameras that's a knife knut, because they use some pretty good blades and no crap cuttlery like on other shows.

Y'know what, with the knife rule, I've read that the actor Michael Weatherlys, (Dinozo), father was the man who introduced the US to Victorinox, or Wenger, SAKs. Forget somebody on the crew pushing the idea of knives as tools, it could be Weatherly or Mark Harmon, hell, Pauly Perrette could be pushing the use of knives on the show.

The real question is this. Was the Leek Gibbs had the 440 model, or the new S30V one? If it was the S30V one, then Kershaw, Spyderco and Cold Steel are all going to have to start paying for commercial space on that show. Even Kabar, that's been prominently featured too.

I was wondering what that knife was. In case you hadn't guessed, I am not a Kershaw owner.

As to Kate's death, I understand that she wanted off of the show and I must say that I find her replacement to be a vast improvement. Zita is funny, capable, and flat gorgeous. Nasty, too, when necessary. I love her deadpan humor!

I'm with you

what did they use last week when dinozo and zita were in the cargo container?

he had a black mall ninja knife that he opened crates with

He's used an Endura before, he might have had a black Military that night, I only caught the last half of that episode. The hottie, who is Chilean BTW, Cote de Pablo, has been using a Cold Steel fixed blade, and I think in the episode where they came in on a Sunday to save a Lt locked in a trunk, I think she pulled out a SOG fb. Probably wrong. Noticed that she was sidling up pretty close to McGhee, making Abby jealous.

Damnit, I care too much about this show.

What does N.C.I.S stand for? I've been trying to figure out what show this is all morning!

Naval Criminal Investigation Service. Basically they are the "detectives" for cases involving military personel.

Also remember this show is a spin-off of the popular J.A.G. (Judge Advocate General).

NCIS also does security clearances for the Navy, or used to do them. We had a neighbor when I was growing up who was a Naval officer and we could always tell when he was up for a promotion for we would be visited by NCIS. You need to remember in this story that my dad was CIA.

Yeah, I forgot that, I know what you mean FullerH, my best friend since 5th grade is career Air Force, working for the National Recon. Office. For his first few years, everytime he was up for a clearance raise, I got visited by the nice gentlemen from the F.B.I. I once joked to him that I was going to tell them he was out of town in Moscow, (late 80's) and he turned white and said "not even as a joke dude!" they have ZERO sense of humor.

TLC, that was like my first summer job, which was with the Agency, since they hire only children of employees as summer help. Otherwise, the clearance would be too costly. In any case, it was the summer of 1960 and right after Francis Gary Powers had been shot down. When anyone asked me what I did at the Agency, I laughed and said that I flew airplanes for them. I mean, what do you think that they did with summer employees, for Pete's sake? We were very limited to nonsecure information and such details.
