I am looking to pick up a relatively inexpensive folder to stand in for my Benchmade while it is away getting a tune up. I would like your recommendations on the Leek and the Vapor II. I like the frame lock on both knives and I have read a little bit about both on the forums and I would like to here from some people who have both knives and give a good comparison of them. Let me know what you think. Thanks

I like the Leek...Try and find the black coated version...there pretty sweet;)

Can only coment on the Leek...I've got the Rainbow and it is a real sweet knife. Very deep grind, very sharp, great at puncturing.

I had the small vapor . It was a very nice knife , I got a lot of use outa the thing . The only thing i did not like is that i had to keep tightening up the screws all the time,. A little lock tight fixed that thou . I wanted to get the leek , just aint had the money for one :( So I can only tell you of the vapor. If I was you I get a leek , I got tired of the vapor and gave it away .

I have a bit more expensive Avalanche and I love it! I bought it for $65 - check Yahoo shopping. Steel is CPM440V + G10 + SpeedSafe.
Thanks, Vassili.

i got a leek -- real nice opens like an auto -- i got the serrated edge with it too

I rushed out to Walmart when I saw on Bladeforums that they had the Vapor for about $20 (and the Vapor II for $25). I got the Vapor and came to like it enough (after I put a decent edge on it!) to carry it. Then I went back to get another one as an affordable backup should anything happen to the first one, and they were out of stock. They did, however, have the upsized Vapor *II* so I got that for only five bucks more.

I don't have experience with the Leek, but it looks cool in the pic that was posted. I don't know if it's one of the assisted-opening Kershaws, but I don't care for those beyond just the novelty of opening them. I would NEVER trust one of them in a pocket.

I therefore recommend the Vapor or the Vapor II. (P.S. I have have not had a problem with screws loosening, though as mentioned, that would be fixed with Loc-tite.)

There is nothing that can go wrong with a $25 knife that another $25 won't fix. :D

A little bird told me that I may get a Rainbow Leek as a late birthday present ... I'm excited. They are very nice, I prefer them to the Vapor. I'd probably get the Vapor for utility though, the handles are grippier with the holes. It won't hold an edge too well, but it will cut.

I just "upgraded" my utility carry from a Gerber AR 3.5 to a Vapor II.I really like the look and feel of it,however,I'm not the best one to ask since I like just about anything that will cut string:D

The Vapor has a tendancy to cramp my hand after a lot of openings and closings whereas my Rainbow Leek doesn't. Dunno how this stacks up with the Vapor 2, but I know the Leek is truly a nice knife.

I don't know if it's one of the assisted-opening Kershaws

I left that out...yes it is assisted opening. The Leek feels good in the hand, it has a little heft to it also which I like. My 5 year old daughter liked the Rainbow Leek so much I got her a Rainbow Chive. It too is assisted opening and is a great little knife.

I thank you all for your opinions but I have decided that neither the Vapor nor the Leek are in my future, I am going for a Sebenza. I had one and I sold it to fund another project and I have regreted it ever since. I just sold my Benchmade to raise some cash and I am looking to buy a Sebbie. Thanks again for all your opinions.
