Hello all!
First post, so I will start with a total newb question.

I have a Kershaw Leek that I bought a while back as a everyday beater. I didnt really pay much attention to what steel it was made of, and when looking to see what it was yesterday, the sources didnt agree.

Some places say that the blade is 440A, and others say that it is 13C26. I cannot find anything about a steel change, so whats up?

Thanks!

They did change the steel in the Leek. It used to be 440A but now is Sandvik 13C26 (upgraded).

There was a steel change(improvement) last year from 440A to the Sandvic steel. If you open your blade halfway and look on either side of the flipper, you should see a date stamp. Let us know what it says and we can tell you more.

Mine was made March 07 according to the blade.

I assume that the 440A blades are not nearly as good?

Yup, it would be 440A, that' s a pretty decent steel, but 13C26 will hold it' s edge a bit longer.
