Does anyone know if the composite blade is worth it. I think my favorite is the composite blackwashBladeHQ has a good list of Leeks including discontinued models: http://www.bladehq.com/cat--Kershaw-Leek-Knives--401

Essentially you're paying more for the 'upgraded' steel (D2*, which should retain its edge a bit longer than the standard 14C28N) as well as the "look". If you can afford the price difference, I say go for it. I have a composite, and also gifted one to a friend who used it quite a bit and was very satisfied. The *D2 is also "semi-stainless", so under certain rare conditions it might develop a little rust--but that's not nearly as big a deal as it might sound. (Also, the "blackwash" finish may mitigate the already minor susceptibility to rusting--I'm not completely sure how blackwash works.)Does anyone know if the composite blade is worth it.
