Leek, definitely. The size is more useful and you can choose from a lot of nice blade steels. I think the CPM-D2 Leek is one of the best values in its price range.
I have a new Kershaw Leek with Sandvik stainless I believe. The blade was more than shaving sharp out of the box and I honed it to the sharpness of a Bard Parker scalpel blade. The blade deploys in an instant and locks into place. I am very pleased with it. I just bought a star driver to switch the clip to the end with the safety, just to see how I like it that way. If I was carrying it in dress slacks, I would be inclined to remove the clip for my inside change pocket. Kershaw seems to me to be a company that emphasizes continual improvement in the quality of their products.
I prefer the size, blade shape, steel, ergonomics, and looks of the Leek.
You really can't go wrong with the Leek, imho. It's a great knife for general use but it's not out of place in a slightly classier/business environment. Plus it's quite inexpensive.
The Leek is a much more versatile knife. The blade shape works better and the handle is much less cramped for full size hands. There is also the added advantage of easier sharpening with the Leek's wharncliffe like blade shape over the short recurve on the scallion.
I got a Jeep Leek when I got a Jeep and had it as a daily carry (wearing a suit) until I came to Silicon Valley (and switched to blue jeans and a somewhat larger knife). I found it to be a really nice size and sturdy enough for anything you're likely to run into during a normal workday.
IMO the Leek is the better knife and its also available in more configurations then the Scallion. Its hard to go wrong with the Leek. Just curious what you guys think about the CRKT Ken Onion Ripple 2 compared to the Leek. Same designer, similar size and shape and price is similar for a g10 Leek and Ripple2.
