The new version of this knife is made in China :barf: , still, it is as nice a knife as the original German ones. The Kershaw website says they are made of a German steel-L4T6.
This seems unlikely, but, does anyone know anything about this steel, or what it is most comparable to?
Thanks

I have a friend working for Deloro Stellite in Koblenz, Germany. I'll send him an e-mail and see what he says about L-4T6. I'll ask for a breakdown of the alloys too. ;)

They are junk, don't waste your money!

I liked the way they looked on the internet but the quality is just not there. The blades are dull and do not sharpen for beans.

It's too bad because I like the design!

I have 2 "made in Germany" originals and 1 new one. The edges are very thick and thinning them out is somewhat problematic. A hollow grind rather than a flat gring would have been preferable. Having said that, I still think they are a classy knife and they are a sticky-poker, not a bologna slicer.

I just picked up a new one at Smoky Mtn Knifeworks over the weekend.....cost $40.

I picked another up for a friend who carried ione in the 80's and 90's as a concealment blade for his military counter intel work. He told me alot of agents had them. His original is housed in a Brommeland IWB sheath.

I have and old one but I prefer the new model....it has a pretty nice plastic sheath with a manual describing the multiple carry modes from belt to shoulder rig...etc.

The actual knife is very well fit, ground, and it is razor sharp.....shaves hair cleanly.

I don't know how long it will hold this edge but I think that using the knife for self defense purposes it would be ideal.

Anyways...the price is much better than they used to be.
