Kershaw military boot knife

I had one for a while and thought it was pretty ordinary. Mine was manufactured in China. Quality was OK given the price but you can do a lot better. The knife is relatively small, particularly in the grip which may be a problem if you have large hands. The blade is designed for sticking or stabbing and while it can do other things, again, there are better designs around for general purpose use. It comes with a gimmicky sheath arrangement that has a shoulder holster style carry option.

The one I had didn't do much for me and I sold it after a relatively brief period. Having said that, and taking into account the above limitations, there is nothing fundamentally wrong with them. It really depends on what you want it for.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the advice guys, I had been in 2 minds about this one for awhile now and what you have said confirms my thoughts.
Thanks

Makes a good neck knife for outdoor use. Use mine when hiking and I'm not too concerned about concealment. Difficult carrying comfortably on one's body (as opposed to on the pack - put down your pack and the knife goes with it). I don't use the supplied carry straps - they're more buky than the knife.

Very sharp. Don't throw it or you will break the tip. Handle is small and has to be wrapped with leather or para cord. Sheath is very cheap. Wrapped it with paracord with a fire starter under it. Can cut yourself pretty easy if you have your thumb to high on the sheath while yanking the knife out of the tight sheath.

I like the MBK. I think it's a classy little knife. It is a good sticky-poker, but the edge is far too thick to get or keep a razor edge, still, it's fun to play with.

I like mine.Carries nice with the sholder harness. For the money, its great. And I do have it on me a lot.

I have a First Gen from Solingen. Came with two sheaths, black and brown leather, with clips.

It does have a slim profile, it's made as a large German "military" boot knife, and was originally designed and sold when that market was hot in the '80's. Sold for $85 and up as it is a forged integral bolster knife - which is why it took so long to find a less expensive maker. There are very few others like it.

Haven't seen the latest in hand to remark why the edge is thick - mine's flat ground to the thin bevel, but any user can be reshaped thinner for better cutting.
