Kershaw model 1970 B5

It's probably for the standard, plain edge version. The ST is the serrated version, both use 8Cr13MoV steel.

Where did you find/see the B5 designation for the Kershaw Burst?

I just looked around I could not find any reference to the Burst as anything other than the Kershaw Model 1970.

If I had to take a gamble, I would guess this is a run of the Kershaw Burst that was intended for Big 5 Sporting Goods. That being said, looking at the linked eBay auction, I do not see any visual differentiating feature that would make this model different than the standard model.

This right here. I have a Kershaw Clash B5, made to sell at Big Five Stores. The only difference from the regular clash is the B5 version is unassisted. But this Burst is clearly marked Speedsafe. I see no difference in this B5 model.

Here’s my Clash. I’d have to think these unassisted from the factory would be pretty rare. The standard Clash had no thumb studs and was an assisted flipper.

Well that explains it to me. It apparently was an "exclusive" for Big 5 -- ie., B5. 🤷‍♂️
