Kershaw Nakamura

You'll love it - I sum it up like this - "Its a smallish tactical knife in a tuxedo"

Look for them on Ebay. I got mine BIN for $102.

Not cheap, but not bad, for a wood handled VG-10 blade methinks!

Just got the knife, like 5 minutes ago....

AWESOME!

I have not bought a new folder for like 20 years or so (my last one actually was a Kershaw Blackhorse that I still have). This one was worth the wait!

The shape of the blade is one of the things that really attracted me to this knife in particular. I had looked at the Leeks, etc, but there was something "too pointy" about those blade shapes for me. They seemed a bit too "fragile", or I'm not quite sure what it is about them that didn't appeal to me...oh well, different strokes, etc...Even the Kershaw splinter was too pointy as well. This blade has some beef to it, and the geometry of the point just "does it" for me. The blade has a slight recurve to it, nothing extreme, nice and subtle. Very sharp out of the box.

The mokume bolsters are really interesting and beautiful. The quince wood handles are as expected--quite nice.

The blade opens smooth and easy, no surprises. Thumbstud opening only, no speedsafe, spring assist, etc. Just light pressure opening until you get a nice solid *click* locked opening. Liner lock to close is also smooth operating.

The handle is well shaped, and feels great in your hand (in my hand anyhow!) nice gentle recurve to the handle as well.

Knife is fairly light, so it should make an excellent EDC. The clip from most web pics looks somewhat anemic, but in person it is actually rather substantially thick and has nice holding power. It is skeletized and the knife carries with only about a 1/4 inch "above board". Knife has good ability to stay closed as well, with a muted click upon full closure as well.

I'm suffering from new knife syndrome....I keep polishing it up, nice and shiny, then slip it into my waistband, only to pull it out a minute later to flick it open and closed a few times, thereby getting my paw prints all over it again, and then I have to shine it up again! I then repeat the whole process.....:D

I didn't take any pics of it, but some excellent ones can be found in this more in-depth review

Its a serious knife in disguise, I love mine, but I dont use it a ton because I dont want to damage the finish of the handles or bolster.

Its got a much stronger blade than I expected. Nothing missing in the toughness department...thats what I like about it the most.

I EDC mine off and on. I like the blade shape and it gets lots of comments when I use it.
