My Kershaw Needs Work. Five months of warehouse duty and still strong, then the other day while cutting a pile of corrugated, the pivot worked loose, as a matter of fact, the locktite on the obverse scale gave up at the same time. So, a bit of side to side play, NO up and down. Then I close the blade and hear the SPROING!
This is the spring. It is housed between the obverse, non-locking liner and a milled space in the G-10.
See the problem? Somehow when the pivot came loose, the spring came out of it's seat and got bent, then broke when the blade closed.
Overall, this is a great knife for me and the mechanism is quite nifty. It is suprising that the knife has ZERO vertical play even though the torsion bar absorbs positive pressure and only the liner absorbs negative. I have smacked the spine accidentally a number of times.
I also appreciate Kershaws installing of a little nub on the liner to glide the blade as it travels back and forth, preventing unnecessary contact with the locking liner.
Got a couple more photos to upload but one question.
Where do I get a new spring? I love the flipper on this knife!!
