Kershaw Nura 3.5 First Impressions

Good video.

Kershaw just keeps them coming!

I had not seen this one. Thanks for getting me another one!

The KVT is really something. The fact that Kershaw can use this excellent bearing system in low-cost imports should make other manufacturers nervous.

I just happened to watch this video before jumping on BF, great review btw. I subscribed to your channel last night.

It is ball bearing but not the sweet bearings pressed into the blue cage like on the ZTs. If it is like the strobe, they remind me more of ikbs except they don't fall out everywhere when disassembled. They do work well though.

Correct not quite the same as the KVT used on the Zt line but still better thank IKBS IMO, simply for the fact you won't ever lose a bearing. I've had that happen a few times.

Don't get me wrong. For the price point, they are freaking amazing. I also agree that the action is better than crkt ' s more expensive ikbs knives.

I'm about to watch it here at home. I'm really digging these newer collab budget models.

Any chance of giving some info and thoughts on the knife for those of us that don't go to you tube and like to keep information here for future review? Besides, it always looks like people are just trying to drum up more viewers for their channel. Using this forum to try to further your business without doing the right thing and getting the appropriate membership. IceMan, you have been around a long time so I'm not really talking about you. Just putting it down for the record to try to get others to give it up here and not just you tube.

Honestly it was pure laziness not wanting to type out a review after recording one. I'll try to do a right up also. Thanks

Kershaw calls the bearing system KVT; I could find nothing in the manufacturer's specifications that distinguish one KVT system from another.

I have the Strobe and the Nura 3.5 and they feel as smooth as my ZT 0801. Whatever any difference may be, perhaps it does not have much meaning for the user.

Great video review! The Strobe and Nura are also on my want list. You mentioned the KVT on them was a bit different from that on the US-made models. Do you happen to have a side-by-side showing the two?

I was thinking of doing another video with my 801 and the Nura disassembled to show the difference.

I took some pics when I had the strobe apart. Also have some pics of an 0560 apart so I will post then up tonight.

These aren't my pics (thanks forum members!), but I did a little search just now and was able to find a couple. ZT has the blue KVT cage. Kershaw Strobe is the bottom pic. Looks like they throw normal washers in their, as well. A buddy has my Strobe so I wasn't able to take her apart and see for myself.

ETA: Here is a better pic of a TiLT that's been torn down. It uses the same blue KVT as the ZTs.

I have the Strobe and just got the 3.5 inch Nura earlier this week and to me, the Nura feels cheap and flips something awful. Nothing at all like the Strobe and more closely inline with the skyline. The knife overall is think and does not feel sturdy at all but then again, it might be what they were going for. A slim styled knife. One thing that really urks me outside the flipping action is the lock itself. Mine came with it 100% engaged and has pretty sticky 'lock rock', which i have never had on any knife before. It also seems to bend when you disengage and use to much muscle, which makes me have to disassemble the knife to bend it back.

Overall i was very disappointed in the NURA and am very impressed with the Strobe. Given that they are the exact same price, I feel you are getting a lot more value for the money with the Strobe. Fantastic flipper, great fit and finish, and overall a great low budget flipper.

I don't see how anyone can compare the Nura to any of the fine flippers ZT makes, especially the 801 which is one of their best. Far closer to a skyline then anything else. At least that is how my knife came.

Wow, that's a shame. This is the Nura 3.5, right? Still waiting on the 3.0.

I liked the strobe which had a very strong detent. However, my nura flips great, has good lock up and actually feels a lot nicer than the Strobe. The k texture just made the knife feel cheap to me. The Nura is more refined IMO. Sounds you got a lemon, which we all know Kershaw will replace no questions asked
