Kershaw OD-1 problems

Recently my od-1 has become extremely loose. After tightening the pivot screw, I flip it open less than 30 times and the blade loosens to the point that theres serious blade play, you can actually feel the blade wobble as you hold the handle. The frame lock is obviously not contacting the blade well, since theres vertical blade play and I can push the bar all the way across to the other liner. I can tap the spine of the blade against my thigh and the lock disengages.
Now I love the design of the OD-1, but this problem has made the knife unusable. I'm hoping to repair the knife rather than buy a new one, so has anyone experienced a similar problem and can share how they fixed it, or should I send it in to kershaw for repair?

Take the pivot screw out... Clean the threads very well and put together without oil. If this doesnt help use a VERY small drop of blue loctite and should cure the loosening. But thread cleaning and drying should help.

Thanks for replying, but I should probably say that I've teflon taped the screw already and it still has this problem. The lock issue is fixed somewhat, but still present.

Would kershaw replace it if I already opened it to do the teflon mod?

Teflon tape was going to be my suggestion, but it looks like you've already tried that. You might try wrapping the threads more thickly with the tape and seeing if the screw will stay tight then. But if that doesn't work, definitely get in touch with Kershaw. Their warranty department's reputation is stellar; I really doubt they'd deny you a repair/replacement because you tried the Teflon tape thing.

Kershaw's Customer Service is amazing. Give them a call and explain the situation. They will take care of you.

Kershaw CS is great to deal with, I'm sure you won't have any trouble getting it taken care of.

Thanks for the replies guys, I'll try to contact Kershaw about it and see what happens. :D

Well I have to hand it to Kershaw, they really do have great CS!
I emailed them about my problem, and they told me to send it in for warranty. They said the process takes 4-6 weeks, but I received a brand new OD-1 in the mail today, exactly 2 weeks after I sent it. It was a pleasure to deal with them, and this post (and maybe buying another Kershaw) is my way of saying thanks. :D

The people you guys spoke with must not work at kershaw anymore. I bought a ZT350 that had 2 nasty nicks in the blade near the tip right out of the wrapping. I contacted cs who said to send it back in on my dime so they can take 6 weeks to fix it. This is a knife that had just been opened out of the package !! Now I have to pay to send in and wait 4 to 6 weeks to get back the knife I have already paid for and never even used, carried, or enjoyed. They won't even tell me whether they will replace the blade. "Might just grind a new edge" David the supervisor told me. WTF This knife is brand new !! I didn't pay $120 for a chipped bladed knife that needs to be reground before I ever even use it. To say I am unsatisfied with kershaw customer service is a gross understatement. I will be contacting my bank to see if the charge can be refunded. Then kershaw can send me a call tag for the knife. I will be sure to have it back to them within 4 to 6 weeks. No problem. Nice doing business with you kershaw. I was actually going to buy another matching ZT350 for my gf and the torxset they sell, now I'll be looking elsewhere. It's a shame an American company will treat you like that. boo!!

We're that bad...

Your nasty, evil and loathsome ZT 0551 gave me a cut today. It bled and everything.

If I post this 2 more times, can I get another one free of charge?

Totally awesome knife, BTW. And one hell of an edge too!
