I've been looking at the kershaw OD-2, mainly as a reasonably priced spare blade to stick in my camping kit, but also because I want to try something a bit different.
only thing is, I can't find out if it is assisted opening or not, which I would like to know since I may want to travel with it, and issues with customs could arise if it is.
can anyone tell me if it is or not?

...it does come out pretty fast for a flipper too...i like my little letter opener...

it's not assisted.
not sure of the actual mechanics, but the flipper is not part of the blade, but a seperate piece that acts as a cam to propel the blade into deployment. once the blade is opened, the flipper hides in a recess along the liner.
it's a framelock too.
i have both sizes and like them both!

The OD-1 (the larger one) is a framelock, the OD-2 is a linerlock.
excellent. unfortuneately the OD-1 is a somewhat more expensive than the 2, so it's more than I can afford for what is essentially a spare and a toy.
thankyou all for your help, it looks like one of these is in my fairly near future.
