I won a Kershaw OD-2 in a giveaway some months ago from Timberweasel. He asked for a review of the knife in his original post. When he sent the package out, Canada Post was in full strike and the package probably got lost somewhere. Anyway, TW communicated with me and told me he was gonna send out some things in lieu of the OD-2 that got lost in transit. I said that everything was fine and that he didn't have to do it. Great guy that he is, he sent me some stuff anyway that also included an OD-2.

Here is the review.

I was on the lookout for a mini knife and when I TW told me that I won, I immediately took a look at an OD-2 and it did seem to fit what I was looking for. It's a 2+ inch flipper with a slim profile with 8cr13Mov steel that I'm familiar with. I like this steel for the ease of sharpening and very reasonable edge holding.

The OD-2 is a comfortable 3 and a half finger grip for my medium hand. Some bit of dexterity is needed to activate the flipper which deploys the knife in reliably into a solid lockup for a knife of it's size. For my planned uses for a mini knife(package and letter opening, getting into food packages where sensibilities have to be taken care off), this one fits to a T.

The OD-2 came sharp out of the box. Easily paper slicing and arm hair shaving.

Here's a couple of comparison pics.

And here's the stuff Timberweasel sent me. I love them. Thanks heaps TW. This is really appreciated.

Hey Singularity35! Glad you *finally* received the package and that you're enjoying it! I thought the T's were a better alternative than packing foam chips... Nice little review, brutha!

Best Regards,

Brett

I have one. Unlike the OD1 which I love , this little knife did not impress me much. I find the steel on mine to be sub-par , maybe I got a bad treat but it feels and 'sharpens' soft... It is small and unobtrusive ( it's best features ) but the flipper is sort of hard to operate.
All in all it's not a terrible knife but I think the OD1 is a way better package.

Thanks for the review. :)

The OD series is awesome. Of course I have a soft spot for these knives, as the OD-1 was the knife that started my knife addiction. Great review man.

I thought I remember the OD-1 being 14c28n steel? Maybe the 2 and the 1 have different steels? Dunno, either way they are great knives.

Yeh, the OD-2 is 8Cr13MoV. I don't have any experience with the OD-1.

I have both and preffer the 1 as well. Good review, I dont find the small size to be a problem in use but sometimes I just drop it loose in the pocket so the clip is not visable and in that case it really does "disappear in the pocket!" Good enough steel for for what i use it foe and I,ve never had to sharpen it.

Yah, I took off the clip and I'm carrying it loose in a pocket of my man bag(:p). The only thing I miss on this knife is a lanyard hole. It would be with my keys now if it had a lanyard hole.
