A while back I heard that Kershaw was going to offer another offset without the splatter paint handle. I was wanting to know if anyone had any news about when that would be available. Also does anyone have an opinion about the Offset, as far as EDC or anything else. I would really like to buy one but am kind of debating about it.

Howdy Kershaw Fan! I have several Kershaws though I am a Spyderco Nut @ Heart. I have handled a Friends Offset and I have a Bump with S30V. The Offset is a bit bigger and a tad heavier. The offset does open faster than my Bump though. My friend is affraid to really use the Offset for fear of having to touch up the cutting edge. My S30V Bump has hit the Steel several times and returns to like factory sharpness in a few smooth stokes. I wish I could say more regarding the MIM performance, but at present I can not. I can tell you I paid near $100.00 less than he did and he wishes he had a Bump. Just food for thought. Don't get me wrong, It is a beautiful knife but does not seem to have a 100bucks of advantage over the G-10 S30V Cheaper Knife. I am still waiting for the Kershaw Groove. I also Hope that in time they build that with a premium steel and Speed-assist. Thats all 4now. L8R... ~baba~

True, the Bump seems more practical for EDCing, not quite as big'n'heavy, less expensive, less extreme blade geometry, better materials except for the coating of the Offset (though more durable, that may pose a disadvantage in cutting performance).
I look at my acquisition of one of the award-winning 1,000 Offsets as collecting. E.g., it has a marvellously flashy clip reminiscent of custom Ken Onions. Any Kershaw Onion is huge fun though, pick the one that feels best to you - and if it's just a Leek , that's great too.
