I was on Wikipedia looking up a few things and I decided to search Kershaw Knives. What is currently on wikipedia is a little weak. I was thinking I would bring it to the group's attention to see if someone with vast Kershaw knowlege and maybe a little Wikipedia know how might be interested in updating the information there. It might make for a nice little weekend project.

That's what I was thinking. We have some college students here and I was thinking one of them might have some insight into Wikipedia and be willing to do some of the heavy lifting while some of the more wise among us could direct the content.

How about one of those shows like 'Made in America' with John Ratzenberger do a show on KERSHAW That would be fun and would introduce more people to Kershaw

Great idea. Between Dave, Thomas(when he gets back from his break) and other wise men here the world could be set straight on the past, present and future of the finest knife manufacturer to grace us.

I was expecting "Kershaw Knives. Made in Oregon, somewhere"

There is quiet a bit of info there. Like I said, more than expected.

Too bad they don't have some pictures up too.

I was thinking something with pictures, a timeline, and things a little more informative than Ken Onion makes knives for them and they are on these TV shows. Some links to the websites of Kershaw's designers would be nice, a listing of major awards Kershaw has won over the years, a breif run through of the most popular current models (Leek, Chive, Boa, Bump et.). You know? Stuff like that.

You got me thinking about who else would come up at Wikipedia
So, I tried out a few, with variations of their name in case
Wikipedia was being to critical of the name.
This is what I found

DOESTN'T come up at Wikipedia
Buck knives
W.R. Case & Sons
Case knives
Cold Steel knives
United Cutlery
Al Mar
Knives of Alaska
Boker knives
Junglee knives
A.G. Russell knives
Masters of Defense
Microtech
Taylor Brands
SOG knives
KA-BAR knives

Comes up at Wikipedia
Kershaw (some info as we have been shown)
Benchmade (A lot of info)
Spyderco (mention Sal and Bill Moran) List knife steels they experiment with
Camillus Cutlery (informative)
Gerber Legendary Blades (even have a pic of a crappy model)
Leatherman (nice write-up)
Victorinox (very decent write-up) plenty of pictures

Is Wikipedia owned by some guy on the West coast? haha :D

Is there a way Wikipedia can be informed more about a company?
Does Kershaw have to send them information to be put up at Wiki's site?
How does all of that work?
