Now that the Blade Show has come and gone, did anyone learn when the Boa will actually be available for purchase? Has anyone set an actual selling price?

I was given one of the 12 prototypes Ken made the wednesday before the show. I where it now in my pocket and let me tell you it is waaaayyyyy cool. The street price is around $140.

The knife should be shipping later this month and a minor design change is the hold up. They now have a safety on the back to make certain the back flipper does not engage the blade when not intended.

I got to play with one of the black Boa's extensively over the weekend. IMHO, it's it best of the Kershaw/Onion bunch to date. The lockup, which has been the biggest problem that I've seen on the Onion's - was perfect and consistent. Very solid. Great build quality. I hope all of the production versions are of the same quality. My only complaint was the fact that the black handled model will only be available with the black blade.

It would look killer with that satin finished blade.

Hey, I also got play with a few of the new Kershaws and they nice. The Boa was all I had thought it would be, but I also liked the black handled version. I too can't wait until they go on the market. But the one really got my attendsion with the proto of the new "Whisper" did anyone else get see it or operate it. Titanum liners and grip inlay, in a slitely smaller size that the whirwinds. Folks grab your hats cuase this one is going to be a "goodone" said the retail price to be on 1000 limited edition to be $350, it is scheduled to be on the market by Jan. 2001. They did say that not sure if it will go to production, but had gotten great results from show. It is a slick version of the whirwind.

I also got to play with the Boa proto that Mike has in his pocket. I was really impressed, the little flippy deal on the back made for really easy opening, lockup was good...and even without the secondary lock I played with it for a while lightly tapping the tab to see how it would respond, and I had to get the blade pretty far out before the assistance assisted. Overall I think its a great knife, and as a matter of fact I have the Blade Mag open to the Boa add right now

oes the new safety lock get in the way at all? If so, can it be easily removed? Thanks all!

The Boa's safety is positioned between the index trigger flipper thing and the handle spacer (when the knife is closed). Its a notched sliding plastic switch that engages a notch cut into the flipper. Slide it forward, safety is on, slide back, its ready to fire. To answer your question, no it does not get in the way at all and as to complete removal of the safety you need to "void the warranty" to do that. Choosing to not engage it is the best way if you don't want to hassle with it.

Here's what I am talking about:

The safety is the notched slide switch on the handle spine. It is shown in the disengaged position.

Thanks for the info and photo, Dexter! As long as the safety can't accidentally slide "on" during carry, it certainly looks unobtrusive.I'm anxiously waiting for the Boa to hit the market. The MiniTask and RandomTask are both great, at least mine are, and the Boa just looks so cool!More power to Kershaw and Ken Onion. Thanks again.
