This knife is advertised everywhere as having a aus6 blade. Some forum members here say it's aus8.Mine has 8Cr13MoV on the blade,so what is it?Were the earlier models made from a different blade material,or should I just go with whats on the blade, and ignore everyone else??I have had the knife for a week, and am absolutely loving it.I like it better than my Vantage Select.Whatever it is,it's the sharpest out of the box I ever had,and thats why I would like to know what knid of steel it is so I can get more of this razor sharp steel, and what would lead one to believe that these blades are anything other than 8Cr13Mov? Thanks.

According to Kershaw's website, it's now made of 8cr13MoV steel. However, according to a couple of my catalogues, it USED to be made out of Aus-6 steel. If the blade steel is marked on the knife somewhere, chances are pretty good that's the steel it's made out of.

Also, how sharp a knife is out of the box has absolutely nothing to do with what steel it's made with. All of Kershaw's knives are ridiculously sharp out of the box, not just the ones in that particular steel. Once you learn how to sharpen, you'll be able to get a ridiculously sharp edge on just about any steel.

I have a Kershaw Oso Sweet and it is 8cr13MoV according to the label on the blade and the packaging. I think they've been made with this steel for a bit over a year now, but I'm not sure.

Thank you.I figured it was something like that.I can sharpen just fine.Im just impressed with this knife because I never get sharp knives out of the box.Case knives are my favorite, but they need to be sharpened a little to satisfy my taste, but all I had to do to this knife is a light touch with a ceramic rod,and it's hair popping sharp. Thanks for the info.:)
