Please help me decide between the Kershaw Outcast and the Ontario Marine Raider Bowie. I was given a gift card to Cabelas and will use it for one of the two, just not sure which one. This will be an all around camping knife.

Thanks.

I do not own either but I have handled both I do not know how heavy one is compaired to the other but the bowie seems more cumbersome and heavy but the handle on the outcast seems kinda thin so they both have good and bad the factory edge on the outcast is pretty thick also.

For general camping tasks, the Outcast works great. I've used it for everything from clearing brush to chopping firewood to slicing a port tenderlion.

I'll have to vote for the Marine Raider. I own both and I think the handle on the Outcast is just a bit uncomfortable and the blade doesn't seem to hold an edge as long as the Marine Raider. The Marine Raider is also cheaper, and is (for me) easier to sharpen. Just my opinion.

Marine Raider here too and only for one reason...the handle, although both are excellent blades the outcast handle is too small and it kinda twist in your hand while chopping.
