Kershaw outcast....I havent heard much about this knife. Big fixed blade (10 in) and D2 blade @ $57. Seems like a good deal just wondering if anyone has any comments about it. Thanks!

I have one, and I really like it. The blade is only .200" thick so it's not as heavy as some other knives in this size. I have read reviews of people getting chipped edges chopping with it, but I have limbed a few trees, batoned through some 5" pine rounds, hacked a 2x4 all the way through, and (inspired by the hilarity of cold steel's proof video) hacked through a 2 foot by 4 foot piece of 1/4" plywood making it two pieces, and cut up a bunch of card board (was a little bored and got a little carried away)....no aparent edge damage to the naked eye, and minimal as viewed through a 15x magnifier. Others have stated that the edge chipped badly in endeavors such as these, but I just didn't see it. I like the knife very much, but it is limited in it's scope of use. Check out the last issue of tactical knives for a nice review of the outcast. IMHO for the price, you can't go wrong.
