I have emailed Thomas W. but I assume he is swamped and hasnt gotten to my information request just yet.

That being said, has anyone had much experience with this knife? I want something for hard use that doesnt cost $400.

I have searched and found a couple of reviews about the knife here from the past, with mixed reviews. Can anyone offer me an opinion that has spent some time with this blade?

It would be most appreciated. Thanks.

I have not had any expierience with the Outcast but you might want to consider a Beker BK1 Brute, Sweet piece of steel for under $100 and can handle anything you through at it.

I want something with self-defense flexibility, and an enclosed-handled machete doesnt offer that.

Machetes are commonly used for such, you could just cut off the finger guard if it caused manipulation issues. The main issue with the Outcast is the edge is way too thick, 0.050-0.070" before sharpening. Even half of this is too heavy for even the hardest of wood work. There are half a dozen reviews in the forum.

Anyone else have $.02?

Really waiting to hear from Thomas...Im curious if the edge has been thinned any on current production models...it seems there were two separate runs with varying features...
