Hi all,

These 2 kind of recently came up on my radar. I do have a CS American Lawman and I remain impressed so far, so I thought I might add the spearpoint to the collection. Enter the Kershaw Piston. Like this one too, and will probably get both, I just want to know what anyone would buy first.
Thanks,

Fred

Personally, I pay attention to the shape of the grip more than the blade, and for that, the CS wins out. The piston has that swell at the pommel which is going to dig into your hand at some point during a push cut. It's also going to be in the way if you have to tip the point way down to start a cut.

The Triad lock is quite a sturdy mechanism, and slightly more difficult to unlock without trying.

In Kershaw's favor, their quality is excellent for the price. Hard to find better value knives on the market.

I suppose it kind of depends on what you intend to do. If you want a beater that is going to be used hard, then the CS is a better way to go. If you like the look of the Piston, and are buying it mainly to have something appealing to tuck in the pocket day to day, then it may be the better choice.

Long story short? I have a couple reliable EDC knives, and I would buy the Recon first, then the Piston.

Thanks Shorttime, I was thinking the Recon 1 first also. I have a few assisted openers, and while fun, i generally gravitate more to regular one handed. I think I'll head to the local store to get a look in person.

That is a great site! I saw the information is very usefule!

I have been eyeing the Recon for a while now and I think that it would be a good choice. Both are great but I would get the Recon first.
