Kershaw questions

I'm trying to find the right Kershaw for my brother, replace the one he had...was told there was a difference in their steel (either recently or years ago) and just looking to clarify? All opinions and thoughts please I have always had knives for different uses (throwing, protection, etc) and just for the love of a sleek blade, but don't have alot of knowledge of the particulars, specs...and my brother LOVED his Kershaw, but I want to surprise him so don't want to ask him directly. Thank you!

We need a lot more information to help than what you've given. What,si,e knife, what kind of knife, style preferences, color preferences, etc.

I'm also not clear on what you're asking. Are you just wondering if they use different blade steels?

Do you know the name or have a photo of the model he had?

If I had to make a guess, you can't go wrong with the leek or blur, they are among the most popular models and for good reasons, case in point, got a leek recently, the knife design and specs are nowhere near what I'm looking for but I have grown fond of it and has occupied a lot of pocket time.

Kershaw has made hundreds of models out of dozens of steels. Without being able to identify what knife he had it would be difficult to suggest a replacement.

Perhaps a better strategy would be to determine your budget and what your brother’s likely usage will be. Does he need something slim and sleek for fine tasks or something beefy that will withstand abuse? With that info we can likely steer you in the right direction.

Also, if you have a photo of the knife someone here will be able to identify it. Even if it’s just a small portion of the knife.
