Update: problem solved! 10-26-09

"""I recently bought two new kershaws and I have a couple questions.

DISREGARD THIS FIRST QUESTION -I just read the date wrong, it is an 08 model:foot::foot: My first question is about the NRG2. I have a model dated June 06 -does it have sandvik steel or 400 series?

Second question, has anyone ever had a speedsafe knife drastically slow down on them? I recently bought a G-10 leek and for the first week or so the speedsafe worked great then it slowed down and it does't hardly work at all -at least not enough to push the blade out. So I took it apart, cleaned, and oiled it and it still does't assist enough to be effective. I am sure that my taking it apart did not hurt anything. I should also mention that it was a factory second -but I think that was only because the blade had a minor chip in it -and again, the speedsafe worked fine at first.

Kershaw is cool enough to have a partial warrantee service even for their factory seconds. Do you guys think I should order a new speedsafe torsion bar or is there an easier way?"""

Thanks in advance:thumbup:

That knife came from my dads ebay account, He sells all my blems for me. We usually replace weak springs before we ship, If you have any problems let me Know.

Thanks

Kershaw has great customer service. I had the tortion bar in my mini cyclone snap. Went to their site, and they have a little parts request form. I asked for a new tortion bar, and within a week a padded envelope showed up at my door with everything free of charge. Torsion bar, pocket clip, pivot, washers, screws and a little torx wrench. Note that I'm in Canada, so a week shipping is pretty good.

Had fun putting it back together too :D

I just want to report that my replacement parts arrived today. I now have three brand new torsion bars direct from Kershaw.

I just put one in and my Leek is jumpin! The assisted opening works way better than before.

Thank you Kershaw:thumbup:

Pretty sweet for a knife with "no warranty" eh? :)

Kershaw sets the bar for customer service. No one supports folders like Kershaw.
