Just a semi review for ya...
I work in cutlery retail in a local mall. When I got to work today, I was happy cuz we got in a shipment from kershaw, and what do ya know? Out pops the Rainbow Leeks in time for Christmas.
To be bluntly honnest, I've never been a fan of the speed safe knives. I like the idea, but I found that with all the models before the leek, just didnt have a solid enough kick in their openings for me. The original leek on they other hand really impressed me when i first played with it. I've been really wanting to see how this boron coating would effect the speed of the opening when I found out that our store would be getting the rainbows in.
My first take when I saw the size of the boxes they came in was "why so big?" I thought the guys at the warehouse might have marked a blackhorse box with a leek lable to skrew with my head. But when I opened the box out comes this fluffy pouch with a zipper on it (sorta like a mini spydie civilian pouch). Sweet! I opened up the pouch and wanted to take a picture. just beautiful. This is a sharp looking knife - pun totally intended(I hear it from smart @$$coustomers all the time so I can do it too).
My only couple negatives about the knives that I found, with the coating, just like the black chive, you get lotsa finger prints, which can be easily remidied with a soft cloth. and... straight out of the box the action is pretty stiff. I pulled out the ol benchmade blue box to make the adjustments, and *snap* just as hard of a kick as the original and no blade play at all.
Kershaw did it. The Rainbow leek gets BoLo's seal of approval. Time to put it down on my christmas wish list.
