Kershaw RAM developing vertical blade play

Has anyone else had their RAM develop vertical blade play?

I really like the knife and can get the new steel very sharp (so far ZDP is the only one I can get sharper). However, I have not had the knife all that long and it has already developed blade play. Looking at the locking mechanism I am guessing the pin on the blade has developed a flat spot. The 'retaining rod' is ramped and I would assume this would be to allow for some wear but it doesn't seem to have worked.

While I like the knife, I'm not going to be able to confidently EDC it if it develops play in 2-3 months. I am sure Kershaw will take care of the problem but if it costs 15-20% of the cost of the knife to send it off every time to get it fixed that could get old pretty quick.

So is my blade play just bad luck or is it inherent to the design?

There could be something obstructing the locking mechanism or something is wrong with the pin like you said.
I've been carrying my Firebert re-scaled RAM for quite a while now and haven't had any play.

I've talked with other owners and blade play has not been an issue for them.
You might have had some bad luck on this one.
Give CS a shout and they'll take care of you. I know it'll cost $5-7 to send it to them, but I don't think you'll have to do it but once. ;)

Ooo, I forgot about that. Sometimes a bit of grit will get in there. Try cleaning out the lock channel.

I have already disassembled the knife to see if it is something I can fix. I did not notice anything out of the ordinary and cleaned it up. I don't really see anything that is causing it so I can only assume it is a slight flat spot on the pin in the blade that is allowing a little wiggle between it and the V-notch in the 'retaining rod.'
