Hi, I got a Kershaw RAM yesterday, and it rocks!! But, the Hawk lock is a little bit uncomfortable, because it is flat against the G-10, and I've seen some that have nice stair-step like lock buttons, and I am wondering if I should buy the one with the raised button. Could you please post pics of your RAM if you have one with the raised lock button with a comfort rating?
thanks!

um. could you explain better what you mean? the stair step is found on the MUDD, the bigger brother of the ram but the raising of the button on the ram was a custom mod by a forumite a while back i forget who.

I use my thumbnail to operate the lock, letting the blade fall back into the handles, then release.

I mean like this:

sorry I was unclear earlier, I was just thinking that a lock button like that would be more comfortable.

That was a pre-production pic. All the RAM's have the lock slide
like you have. As Slade mentioned, someone did a mod and put
a stepped button on it but I can't remember who or how they
did it.

if its uncomfortable you could always PM firebert and ask for a set of wood scales :) then the thumbnail is a must but its also a more solid folder and pretty as well

Got mine today. Pics tomorrow.
The "funnel" he sands out for the button makes it easier to grab hold of with the thumb.

I don't have problems just using my thumb on either.
Maybe I just have better thumbs then you......:p
;)

Well, actually, I've been flippin' it in and out, and I have a good callous starting, so it is a whole lot more comfortable.

I'll be honest, my RAM unlocking thumb hurt a bit after the first couple days, but now it's not an issue at all. After a few thousand openings while watching TV :D

I'm good. Had some fun last night and was feeling good.
I'm glad this thread didn't get off track like so many others.

:D
