Kershaw RAM - vertical blade play

Hi guys,

I got a Kershaw 1910CKT RAM yesterday. Fell in love with it right away. Out of the Box, it had no blade play whatsoever.
Now, after one day only playing around with it (you know, the flipper...) it has a slight amount of vertical blade play (play along the rotation of the blade).
Has anyone else noticed this on their RAM?

I've noticed that the Hawk Lock is not self-adjusting in terms of wear, like e.g. a liner lock. So it might get worse?

After two years of ownership, my RAM continues to be my absolute favorite folder in its size class. However *Extremely* slight play seems to be a fairly common occurrence with the Hawk Locks. I don't believe it's much of a worry however. If you look at a disassembled Hawk Lock knife, the construction appears to be such that the lock should remain secure (and fun to use) regardless... Knivesandguns' recommendation is also an excellent option.

The Hawk does adjust for wear. If you take the scale off on the side with the lock you can see how it works. If you do it be careful because I stripped a scale screw so be prepared to use heat.

Mine also developed play when fairly new and then went away one day. Not sure why it developed or why it went away but it has been a great knife and one of the few Kershaws I own. I have gifted a couple of them and will buy a few more to keep on hand as gifts. Excellent knife.

Not the same knife, but the same lock. I have a ZT0500 with the Hawk Lock, and it is solid as can be.

The Hawk Lock is a hardened steel plate with a "U" cut out that engages a hardened steel post located on the blade. I can't remember clearly, but am almost certain that the "U" cutout is slightly tapered, allowing for wear.

The lock should adjust for wear.

Also, the first run RAM had a solid stop pin, it appears sometime after that the stop pin was changed to a two-piece or collared stop pin. It looks like there is a sleeve around the pin that rotates, I assume this is to account for any wear.
