Hi, since some month ago I am a fan of wharncliffe blades and now I want to know if anybody has experience with Kershaw Random Task Wharncliffe, CPM440V + G10. I can't find any offer at the online-knife-shops, maybe they don't make/sell it any more. Could it be, that there have been a big and a mini one ? May be somebody can give me some information.
Stefan

I'm sorry to disappoint you, but they have been discontinued a year ago. I was lucky to snatch its little brother mini-task. Now it's my EDC. You may try to check 1sks, they still have a picture of it, without price, though. Othervise the new kershaw Leek has the similar blade (of 440A steel).

Thanks NI200, but I am a 'purist' and the Leek has for me not really
a wharncliff-blade-form. The Form is from my opinon more similiar to the big blade of the BM 921, Two-Bladed, - if not I would have bought it, because I like 2-bladed folders, like Kershaw Double Cross/Duty and even the construction of the Buck ECCO, but not the Zytel-Material. :grumpy:

I snagged a random task a couple of years ago. Its almost like a tanto sharpened on the back side. The wharncliffe point is not smooth like on the mini-task. The 440V holds a great edge, but I had a little trouble with it chipping until I changed the angle of the edge. Its currently the most well put together knife in my collection of 4-5.

I have a random task, and it is the crappiest-put-together knife that I own. Handle slabs are loose, blade is loose, it rattles like a box of paperclips. That said, it is a great using knife! The steel is good, and the blade is a wonderful cutter. I've been cutting up cardboard boxes for a week now, preparing to move, and the knife performs like a champ.

Have 1, great knife but sad to say are no longer made. Blade snaps out with authority and wont close on your finger if that finger is a bit slow on getting out of the way. Mine had the problem of loose G10 slabs also. Customer service sent some screws and the fixing barrels and also the spine. All I had to do was to reassamble the knife with the new part and better then new!!. Great company. No regrets. By the way look at my location.

Now I got my new Kershaw Random Task Mini, with ATS34 Wharncliffe-Blade and polished G10 scales
and I am very satisfied, it lays good in my hand. After a while I'm used to the special Ken Onion
speed-safe-opening and luckily didn't cut my opening thumb. I hope it will stay like this for a long time
without any help from Kershaw !!! But I must honestly say, that I am still looking for a bigger
wharncliff-folder from the type Kershaw Random Task, for example with 3 1/4 " blade-length.

Smoky Mountain Knife works ahs a Spyderco native for 22.00
the plain edge looks real close to a warncliff blade. The only differace is the false edge on top.
This might be a good knife to buy.
Adios

Hi,Jack thanks for your tip, but sorry, but I have a little problem to follow you, that a Spyderco Native is similiar to a wharncliffe-blade. Important for me with a wharncliffe is, that the 'Schneide'(German, sorry but I dont know the right word) is strictly straight. The coming fixed blade Ronin will be a wharncliffe, I think.

Guten Tag!
Wie Gehts, Stefan? Ich wohne im Sindelfingen bis Stuttgart fur zwei jahre (1964 - 1966). Ich habe ein Kershaw Random Task. Unfortunately I have forgotten most of my German since have not used it much since left Germany but did speak it fluently when there (Gasthauses were great places to learn!) Anyway have one in very good shape - seen a little use on mail only - would be willing to part with it - have so many others that would be nice to have it go to a home where would be used & appreciated - it is very nice little knife. Let me know if interested in trade or purchase? E-MAIL me at home addy:
