I was checking ebay for Kershaw Scallions, and I found a few listed as model #1620H3, black, aluminum grip, TiNi coated, with 3 holes in the blade. I looked on the Kershaw site, and googled it, and eBay is the only place I seem to find it.

Is this a legit Kershaw model?

Yes it is, I bought one of them at a wallyworld fairly recently. The blade date is marked "07 04" so I assume it was old stock and might not be currently produced which may explain its absence from the Kershaw website. It cost me about $34 with tax (new) so you could use that as a guide for purchasing. Its a great knife, but the 420HC steel doesn't hold an edge very long, but is very easy to resharpen.

I have the same one, I also got it at Wal-Mart for $45. It is just a little heavier than the polyamide handled ones, but it feels more stout and solid. I like it a little better, the three holes give it some "class" as well. A few people have told me on edcforums that the coating is DLC, they also said that DLC is stronger than TiNi (they said it was the strongest coating for a folding knife), so I guess it is even better than listed, not sure if the older ones are like that though.

Found a black handle, black blade available at 1sks.com , but it doesn't have the 3 holes in the blade.

The ones on ebay are "new without box", but include paperwork.

Thanks again

Well, the black Scallion arrived saturday, and I'm very happy with the purchase. I've never been a knife collector, but this might get me started.

Thanks guys!

I bought one of these bad boys today from Walmart for $34. I love how the handle is thicker and sturdier than my regular leek, as well as having a liner lock as opposed to a frame lock. I was also surprised that the knife isn't listed on the kershaw website or even many other websites except for ebay. My blade says "Mar 07," so apparently this knife was made last month. I like the knife so far, and I wonder why it isn't listed on the official site.

I believe that model was made exclusively for Walmart sales, IMO it is the nicest scallion version out there. I really like the outlined white letters. Can't go wrong with Kershaw , they guarantee it !!!

a few weeks ago at WallyWorld. It's what got me started on a Knife buying binge lately. It's a very nice looking Knife, as well as sturdy and the AO is a blast. It is my weekend EDC.

I have the 1620H3, my second Scallion (actually third since I bought two 1620H3s from Wal*Mart). I bought it to have on hand while my Twitch II goes back to SOG for a new spring.

The first Scallion I bought was also an H3, but the finish on the handle was so rough it wore out my watchpocket quickly. I promptly returned it. At the time, I felt that the H3s were refurbs, and to this day I still do not believe that these are TiN coated blades; they feel and act more like epoxy, similar to my Ontario Spec Plus.

I liked overall design, however, and did buy a red Scallion from Bass Pro. The anodized red finish was much smoother. I kept this knife for about a year, before selling it off for $20 in favor of the thinner AUS8 blade of the Twitch II.

This second H3 I bought as a temporary replacement isn't as rough as the first on I bought, and it actually smoothed out rather quickly. I really like this one again. I will probably keep it even after I get my Twitch II back, because I like the design much better. The torsion spring is more reliable, the safety can be tightened down as to not engage at all, and the liner-lock design is much more ergonomic than the lockback design of the SOG.

Now, if only the KERSHAW etching wasn't so outrageously HUGE on the side.

BTW, my date code is "MAR 07". Anybody know when the started using alphanumeric date codes rather than strictly numeric?

I was given this knife as a gift and was not familar with anything about knives or collecting them! After looking into this knife (finding alot of info is'nt easy) I was very impressed by just about everything about it ! The blade is so sharp that if you are not carefull you could easily cut yourself. I like the design ,the black blade and handle ! Once you practice a little its very easy to open with one hand ! I still have the knife in its originial box with all the papers ,however I plan on keeping this one ,its a great collector starter . By the way new member just want to say hi to all !
Take Care NicRic
