Kershaw Scallion question....

So, I'm thinking about picking up a Kershaw Scallion to EDC (in addition to my Spydercos and Benchmade) but was wandering if any of you have had any experience with one? I also noticed that the Scallions are available with a frame lock in addition to the standard liner lock. Is one better than the other?
Any thoughts or opinions on the knife and/or the lock options would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi BigJerk -

I have experience with the frame-lock scallion - I bought one as a gift for a friend.

The knife is a little bigger than the leek, and the blade seems less fragile than the thinner, more pointed leek.

I personally prefer frame-locks over liner-locks, but that is purely subjective on my part - I just like the design and look of a frame-lock better. I have no scientific evidence that supports that opinion.

Kershaw make a fine product, one you will be proud to own and use.

I have several Kershaws, and I have never been disappointed with any of them.

best regards -

you should be more concerned about what style you want rather than the lock; either lock is solid.

i have a few scallions...neither lock will fold over on you.

I had a nice looking OD green Scallion and it was a solid, tough little bastard. I traded it though due to my non-fondness of assisted openers.

The scallion is a sweet knife; solid little thing with a super fast assisted opening and "snap" to it. A little small for my taste as and EDC blade, but It's a cool knife.

I don't own any Scallions, only 2 Shallots and a few Leeks.

Nevermind.:o

Those are Shallots. I EDC a Shallot, myself, and it's the best ratio of useful blade to compact size in pocket I've found yet. One of my previous EDCs was a Scallion, and it served me really well too for a couple of years.

I don't think you could go wrong with anything from Kershaw.
