So Ive been thinking of buying a Kershaw Scrambler for sometime and was hoping for some feedback by owners before I do so. Is it anything like the Thermite in feel and construction? Ive been away from Kershaws China made line because Ive been into the super steels. But I did pick up the Thermite and love it, it has become one of my favorite EDCs

I'm new to knives and this forum... but I did just buy a Kershaw Scrambler - it was supposed to be a present, but upon arrival I fell in love with it.. so much so that I kept it :) Was never really interested in knives as a hobby - just as a tool... but something about this knife has me looking into the hobby, collecting aspect of them.. and man, some knives are real works of art. Re: my scrambler - Love the blackwash, it's got a nice weight to it and the blade came real sharp... I was worried about sweaty hands slipping on the handle but nothing yet, especially bc. it has this curve to the handle just below the blade which would prevent any slippage. Re: the belt clip, the tightness was a bit of a pain in terms of how hard it was to clip over thick pants.. I'm looking to remove the belt clip and just have it in a 4" nylon belt sheath - more so bc of my fear that the assisted opening will go off in my pants. Though I think that's all in my head bc, it takes a bit of pressure to actually draw the blade - but when it flicks out, there is a real satisfying "thwack" which can be pretty intimidating. So far the blade is great, the ways it's designed allows for each slice to part things beautifully [sorry I don't yet much know the knife lingo]. I use it as an everyday knife, camping, impressing the wife when she needs things opened ;) prior to this knife. Though I don't much know a lot about the specifics of knives I do know when I see a good tool - used to work back country in Canada and have jungle experience both carving trails in Costa Rica and crossing the Amazon etc... And my scrambler will be an addition to any future adventures.. until it breaks or I do ;)

One of my coworkers was looking for an inexpensive assisted-opening EDC knife, and I suggested that he get a Kershaw. He decided he liked the look of the Scrambler and ordered one, and routinely carries it at the office. Having checked it out a few times, I have to say that I'm impressed with it. I tend to like most RJ Martin designs, and the Scrambler is no exception, plus his opens, closes and is centered as nicely as any USA model. I will probably buy a blackwashed model at some point myself.

RJ Martin makes some great designs, doesn't he?

My best friend was drooling over the blackwash Scrambler for a month until he finally pulled the trigger. It's been his EDC now for about 4 months, and he has nothing bad to say about it. He really loves it and finds himself carrying it over his green smoke Blur and combo edge Blackout, probably because he prefers a flipper.

I've handled it plenty of times and can attest to its solid construction and great ergos. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Sure is great... now the other day I noticed the [upon research] famed 'rattling' noise - looked into it an it's just a matter of adding lube to the spring under the handle. Therefore I'd now advise to also grab the relevant torx set that can open the handle plate you can get these sets anywhere from Wal-Mart to any decent hardware store. I'm also looking into some grease/lube too, something that is weather proof and non toxic bc I do use this on consumable when out in the bush. If I come across and am impressed with what I find I'll repost at the end of the summer. Again, upon a quick internet search the noise is common with open assist Kershaw's and it's just a matter of maintenance.

P.s. I also took the pocket clip off [was a bit too tight for easy removal and insertion] and got a nylon 4.5" by 2.5" multi-tool pouch for my belt and bag - now the knife is really very accessible :)

*Now I'm also looking into the 'Boker Plus Ginger Fighter'
