Anyone who is thinking of buying one should know that there seems to be problems with the fit of the rayskin to the insert of the handles. i dont think rayskin lends itself well to mass production as an inlay like this. i got one in the mail today, the rayskin does not fit perfectly in the insert, there are spaces in some spots, & it seems bunched up in others. i saw one in a gun store that was much worse, it looked like the glue was oozing out from the sides.it is otherwise a great knife, with one of the most comfortable handles,nice lockup, & smooth opening. hopefuly they can correct the rayskin problem. if anyone is thinking of buying one, i would recommend seeing it first if its at a store, or if its mail order or on line, have it examined by someone on the other end. i was thinking of trying to fill in the missing spots with black silicone glue , it should match up well. i hate to send it back i like the knife & the style. :cool: :cool:

That's not good to hear! I ordered one and I believe that it came today so I will make sure that I check it out good. I'm like you, I would hate to have to send it back.
Thanks for the heads up!

Okay Goldie, got and LOVE IT!!!! You are right, the ray skin is cut short in some areas but there are no folds so I guess that it is a keeper. I read the small pamphlet that came with it and it says regarding the skin;

"Due to the unique pebbly texture of the skin that helps provide a sure grip, it is impossible to manufacture the leather inserts in these knives without some minor gaps between the inlay and the knife handle. Such gaps reflect the natural qualities of the leather and should not be seen as a defect"

Git' R dun!

I saw that pamphlet,too, i was in such a hurry to play with the knife, i usualy ignore all paperwork.i cant see how rayskin would be so hard to fit right in the insert,it cuts easier than g10, micarta,etc.but in mass pruduction i think its a bit harder to do. mine has 2 or 3 small gaps, but im going to live with it for now, 'cause i really like this knife. i guess its going to vary from knife to knife.

Hi Guys, I just got one too and the Ray Skin seems almost perfect on mine. Very minor gaps and the skin really does make for a firm hold. I really think I'm going to like this knife.
