Kershaw Secret Agent

I had one of these. I didn’t really see it as a functional knife. Only practical use for it would be a “shit got real” single use boot dagger. It’s $20 so it’s not a functional tool.

I ended up giving it to my 9 yo nephew. He thinks it’s awesome. 9 yo me is jealous.

I have a Secret Agent. When I first received it I was disappointed to see how thin the blade is, especially the tip. I assumed that the tip would easily snap under stress. But then I saw a video of a guy abusing one, including repeatedly stabbing it through a tire. To my great surprise the blade didn't break, the tip just bent a little. After watching that video any concern I had about the blade snapping disappeared and I was truly impressed by the abuse the knife could take.

As far as the general usefulness of the knife, it has a thin blade with hollow ground, fine edges. With a little sharpening I'm sure it could be used very effectively for a variety of knife tasks. After all, it's a thin, sharp piece of steel with a handle, what more does someone need to cut tape, open a plastic bubble pack, cut a piece of string, cut up an apple, etc, etc. I wouldn't have any hesitation to use it for any of those tasks.

It's also very light and slender. And the rubberized handle provides a great grip.

One complaint I had was with the sheath. Particularly the belt/boot clip. The tension of the sheath holding onto the knife is stronger than the tension of the clip. So when trying to pull the knife out the sheath came with it. But on the positive side, the sheath does hold the knife very securely.
