If you don't want to read alot, in a word it is AWESOME! My new favorite.

Well I ordered her from www.knifecenter.com due to the fact it's in my state! Ordered Sunday night and showed up today (Tuesday)! Quite fast. Upon first arriving I noticed something, the clip was worn! Upon further inspection, it seemed so superficial I decided it didn't really matter. Anyway, it's the sharpest Kershaw I've ever gotten, took away every hair in its path, and cut a bottle in half with ease.

The handle is incredibly comfortable, and is my personal favorite. The clip is the same one that is used on the Leek, and clips well. I like the indentation in the clip that I often find my ring finger resting in. Rock solid lockup, however the opening isn't the smoothest... I'm going to oil it up after I finish typing this.

You can find specifics HERE

Now the pics! :D

vanc99,

Please let us know how it holds an edge. In my own experience, the terminal angle on the edge is super-critical with SG2 steel ... too shallow and you get a micro-crumble. It stays sharp, but you can't shave with it.

Thanks in advance for any info you care to offer. Have fun with your new acquisition ... like Christmas as a kid, ain't it?

Lol, I still am a kid, I'm 14 years old. I will post some updates as to edge holding. I'm planning on sending it off to Mr. Krein towards the end of the month, as I can't bear to part with it right now. The oiling was successful and glides like a dream now. I would note that the parts are relatively tight fitting, making removing the scales seem like I had missed a screw.

Seems like a real nice knife. Could the liner lock hold up to some torqueing while whittling?

I believe so, lock-up was tight but not overly so, I would definitely trust it for normal use, and for SD, one of my most important uses, if ever needed.

Whittling is what I primarily do so knowing that is helpful. Thanks!

Ah so we have a paranoid teenager.... welcome to the club!:D

Nice review, vanc99!

mmmotorcycle,

I'm not into liner locks to put it lightly, but really like the lock on the Blur. Strong, stable, reliable for the one I own. Okay, so that's been the case on all of the Kershaw liner and frame locks I've owned (though the Vapor I case to Cliff got blade play after being used for construction stuff, I think - it's in Canada and I'm not going to walk over there and check).

Well, it's a sad day. My mom gave me a choice; keep it, but it never leaves the house, or send it back. She says the blades to big and "deadly" looking. I'm sending it back... :(

Keep it. 48 months from now you will be emancipated (we hope) and you can carry it where ever the law allows.

cheers

I've found that to be the case also having a Needs Work and Scallion. I just like to keep current and be sure. Cliff.... who is this?;)

keep it you fool! Such a great knife whould not be wasted! I use most of my knives at home. Maybe if you offer it to your mom for kitchen duty she can get past her view of knives being weapons.

Or you could just get an Opinel:p (great slicer btw)

+1

I've got some pretty deadly-looking stuff I bought 35 years ago. At 14, I know it seems impossible, but time really does fly right by.

My dad gave me my first AK-47 when I was 12 and he also gave me my first pocket knife (SAK) when I was 6. I guess we start early in Texas. Keep the damn knife it will blow over in time and you can use it.

That SG2 Blur is a limited run, so if you don't have one now, you may not in the future.

Uhg... I argued a little about keeping and carrying it, I got forced to return it :(. My "rules" for knives are as follows: No longer than 3.4 inches, no wider than 1 inch, and no fixed blades. ARRRG!!!

I hear that you can tell a Texas 3 year old by the gun rack on the back of his tricycle. I was shooting an M2 carbine on full auto at age 7 (in West Virginia, BTW).

vanc99, cheer up! It's an engaging hobby and there'll be other opportunities. Thanks for sharing.

Your mom doesn't have any friends named Janet Reno or Sara Brady does she? My parents wouldn't have ever been this ridiculous but if they had I would have mailed an empty box back and hid the knife. I guess I was more of a rebel when I was your age.

I started shooting 22's when I was 5 by the age of 8 I was shooting a Savage 30-30 and a old Spanish 7x57 Mauser. Sad part was I was required to get my Hunter Education card when I was 12 and I had already been hunting by myself for a few years. Growing up the country is a beautiful thing.
