Hi new here after some lurking I decided I needed to join. I'm looking for a new EDC I lost new old Buck Adrenaline Ti with ATS-34. It was the first "high" end knife I ever had and I was pretty happy with it. I don't think it held a edge all the well, but I didn't put much of an effort into it.

I want a similar sized knife with assisted opening and a plain blade. Other then that I'm not solid on any other options. I don't like the SOG style thumb hole for opening. It will be EDC used mostly for utility stuff. I have held a Kershaw Shallot 1840CKT and liked it wasn't ecstatic about the flipper, but it might just take some getting use to. The guy at the shop said the HK Nitrous Biltz is way better, but didn't have any on hand right now. It was a bit more $$ but if its worth it thats fine. So I'd like your all opinion and other options.

Thanks

PS the Kershaw uses Sandvik 13C26 and the HK is 154CM throw your .02 on those steels for me too.

I don't have any info to give you about your questions, but I just wanted to say "Hi, welcome to BF." Now, back to the original topic...

Welcome aboard!
13C26 takes a very fine edge with little effort.
154CM takes maybe a bit coarser edge and with a bit more effort, but holds that edge longer than the 13C26.

ATS34 is the same alloy as 154CM, it's just from a different steel mfg.

If you aren't wedded to an assisted open, I'd look at a Griptilian or Mini-Griptilian.

Kershaw does 13C256 well, and the Shallot is one of my favorites. It rides in my pocket quite often. The flipper does take a bit of getting use to, but works great once you do. If you like the shallot but want to upgrade the steel, there is the 110v and ZDP-189 versions. I might have a NIB ZDP-189 for sale if your interested.

I think NIB will be to brittle for sure 154CM may not be to far behind. I try to take care of my knifes, but its not far fetched that they will do a very little prying or get dropped.

Take a look at the ZT line. Definitely more money but would stand up to the prying abuse to a certain extent.
