Kershaw Shallot Centering??

I just got a new Shallot last week. I like it overall, but one thing that bugs me is the blade centering when closed.

My Leek and Blur both are just about dead center, but the Shallot is definitely off to one side.

This is literally my 3rd Kershaw, so I'm not sure if this is something that's normal or not.

What do you think?

I think you should post this in "General Knife Discussion" as your knife is definitelly not a traditional knife.

Sometimes adjusting the pivot slightly will correct this problem. Also, there's a pretty good vid on YouTube that explains how to center a ZT0566, which may work for the shallot as well. Sorry, I'm at work or I'd look it up for you and post a link. Good luck

That's unusual for Kershaw in my experience. I have seen it only in a couple of my Skylines which did have a super narrow space between handle slabs. If it doesn't rub and you are not planning on selling or trading it later on, I wouldn't worry about it. If it really bothers you go to Youtube and see if there are any easy fixes for the Shallot, or send it back to Kershaw (at your cost). They are pretty quick and easy to work with. You will have to download shipping paperwork from their site.

When slight such as this it is probably a bind in how its put together due to one of the rear screws. Emersons do this also but its not usually as prone on shorter handle models. Longer thinner lined models can sort of bow if you follow my thought. You have to play with the adjustment of the rear on some and watch how the tip of the blade behaves just by the tweak of too tight vs just so with loctite and such finesse issues with some of these production folders.

I've had 3 Shallots and 1 was dead center, one was off center to the speedsafe side, and the other is off center to the lock side. The one that favors the lock side is my user, and I have noticed that its not off center, but the blade was ground crooked. If you aren't happy about it, send it in for warranty, that's what I did with my first one and long story short, in the end they sent me a new one that was perfect in every way
