Kershaw Shallot Q seeks A

Amici,
This is my tale of woe. I'm a big kershaw fan, so I picked up another shallot with the intention of doing a quick mod, consisting of a clip swap and standoffs to replace the zytel back spacer. Sounds easy right, hmmm..should be & should've. One major problem, the monkey wrench in the gears is that kershaw put so much lock-tite on the screws that now the pivot torx screw is stripped as well as one of the back spacer screws. Now I'm dead in the water and not sure what to do next. So opinions, advice?

Cheers,
Serge

Heat the screw heads with the tip of a soldering iron to loosen the loctite.

After heating, you can try placing a rubber band between your torx bit and the screw. That method has only worked for me once though.

Option 2, depending on how stripped it is, try getting a T7 to catch on the spacer screw, T9 on the pivot. Moving up a size has worked for me a few times before.

Kershaw will send you hardware, free of charge, assuming you get them out.
You should also square your torx bits periodically by taking a few mm's off the ends. Some wet/dry sandpaper or a sharpening stone will work. I use 400 grit wet/dry. The teeth will round with use and make stripping much easier.

As a last resort you may be able to use a screw puller/easy out, but I have only had limited luck with these and you often only get one or two tries. As a fellow fan of the Kershaw Shallot, I'd really like to see the final product as well.

Put a T9 in the pivot and a T7 on the body screws and hammer them in with a mallet. Worked for my when my Southard screws stripped.

I second the easyout suggestion if u can get a pilot hole in there.

Also consider turning it into a flathead screw with a dremel. I've never done this on such a small scale, but just throwing the idea out there.
