which knife is tougher? does the shallot have a locking mechanism? does the lawman have assisted open? which would you guys choose?

Shallot is a stainless-handled framelock, assisted with flipper, great slicer w/ a 14C28N blade, although might be a little too thin for hard use. The CS Lawman is built tougher with the very strong tri-ad lock, G10 scales, with AUS-8 steel. Two very different knives, IMO.

They dont seem very comparable to me. The Shallot is a nice knife, but I would classify it as tough.

I'd vote Case Peanut. They chop much better.
:D

These 2 knives are VERY different.....
So much so, that I'm having issues just typing the differences because they are so different.
The Shallot is strong and will last, but the American Lawman will take your abuse better.

This is definitely apples to oranges.
Actually, more like a Turkey sandwich to a mini-van.

I would go with the Shallot personally. It's a great slicer, it's slim, sharpens very easily, and disappears into your pocket.

For throwing, I would use a throwing knife. There is an entire section here for that catagory. I know what Fred Perrin was trying to do, but as for others, why throw a folder?

/insert facepalm

I've done a whole lot of research, I simply never knew that there was that much of a difference by what I had found so far online, which is exactly why I did more research by asking around here. I only asked which is tougher, I didn't ask for the commentary. as for throwing it, that would only be once in a while if a friend or someone wanted to see it, this wouldn't be my main throwing knife, I just wanted to make sure that if I threw it a few times it wouldn't break or get loose.
