Looking over Kershaw's latest offerings for 2011, they have a relatively small fixed blade called the "Skinning Knife" (definitely not the most original name ever ). It looks like a simple, extremely versatile blade, potentially useful for much more than skinning game.

Does anyone have thoughts and/or experience with this one?

At that price, it's definitely worth trying out. Orange G-10, 14C28N steel, what could there be wrong?

Thanks for the input everyone! I just picked one up in black.

My initial impressions are positive: the overall shape is very thin and it fits extremely well in my small-to-medium sized hands. The textured G10 scales are fairly smooth, similar to the Kershaw Skyline, but still provide a positive grip. I haven't had a chance to cut anything with it yet, but the edge "caught" almost immediately running it across my thumbnail, so it's certainly sharp. The leather sheath is well-constructed with lots of reinforced stitching...though I agree with RandomAyes that kydex would be nicer. I'll post more after I've had a chance to put it through its paces.
