Looking for a new EDC/gentlemen's knife.

I don't own a damascus steel knife yet so the Skyline is tempting. Then again I don't own a knife with carbon fiber scales either...

Well I can say the sage 1 is a fantastic little knife. Carbon fiber is smooth but actually has texture to it kind of like a cotton weave texture. Liner lock on it is plenty solid, and the taiwan knives feel like glass on glass with vaseline in between when you open then. I have no experience with kershaw's damascus but the skyline is a decent knife, doesn't flip as well as I'd like and doesn't ride nearly as deep in the pocket, but locks up solid and has semi grippy g10. For purely asthetic purposes, I'd pick the Skyline but for long term function and action/grip Sage 1 suits me better

Never owned a Skyline, never really wanted one, but the Spyderco Sage series is absolutely fantastic. Pick a flavour and you can't go wrong. My Sage 1 was an excellent folder...

Good luck, OP! :)

I own Sages 1 - 4 (including the older smurfy blue 3; not the new version) as well as 3 different Skylines (damascus, bf S30V, and black blade/black G10). I really like the Sage series (especially the 3) but they tend to be rather big when compared to the slimmer Skyline. I carry the damascus Skyline much more often for an office environment and I use a titanium deep-carry clip with it. Can't go wrong with any of them though. All have great edges and are fun to use.

I also own both - and in fact collect Skylines - and would suggest the Sage.

But if you decide to go with the Skyline anyway, take a look at the exclusive Blade HQ versions. They have CF handles and S30V steel.
