I have $40 burning through my wallet and I need a good folder. I'm needing a good user and tactical folder. I'll probably go with the tenacious, but I am digging the skyline too. I'm tired of carrying my Benchmade Monochrome. I'm willing to take suggestions though!

Thanks for reading,

maybe a buck vantage pro. S30V amd G10 with a Paul Bos heat treat. around 40-50 that looks like a really nice knife.

The Skyline is thin, and has the flipper. It will ride more discretely in the pocket.

The Tenacious is fatter, sturdier and more of a "real" knife. A real value. Has the Spydie hole instead of the flipper. Makes the Skyline seem almost like a toy knife in comparison. Not literally, but maybe you know what I mean.

My 2 Skylines never get carried (one is damascus). The Tenacious is part of my carry rotation, though I am more of a Stainless Police/Military/Delica guy these days.

So if you care what I think :), I'd go with the Tenacious.

Can't go wrong either way, both excellent knives.

Also check out the Spyderco Persistence and the Boker Trance.

I like the skyline the most as an EDC knife. You will forget you have it, and it will do everything you need it to. There is not a lot that the Tenacious can do that the Skyline cant.

tenacious....just because my skyline had a couple rust spots form on the blade while the tenacious I have had longer and no rust...then again I have never had any stainless knife develop rust and carried knives daily for 15 years now.

neither - Benchmade mini grip or Spyderco Salt I. About twenty bucks more than you would pay for a Tenacious.

Tenacious. Beefier knife. Thicker liner lock. Better clip. Smoother opening. Non-bead blasted finish = less rust. Thumbstuds on Skyline are pretty much unusable so you must use the flipper only.

I'm as much of a "buy both"/"spend more and get x" guy as the rest of us on here. But sometimes you guys get out of hand.

$20 more might not be much when you're talking about a $110 knife vs a $130 knife.

But spending 20 bucks more than a Tenacious is 60% more! Sometimes it's ok to just spend $35, especially when these are the $35 knives in question.

For EDC I've think Tenacious has always been slightly too big. Check Spyderco Persistence which is scaled down model of Tenacious. It might be good choice.

I have both knives and both are great. Kershaw is slimmer, lighter and has good steel. Only real con I have find is that my liner lock only goes 3/4 in locking. (and small wobble when closed in my smaple but you really need to wiggle it hard)

Tenacious is really sturdy, heaver and bigger. It was too big for my my like in regular EDC so I personally would look slightly smaller one. But Tenacious is good for heavier work.

Spyderco Persistence might be a good compromise.

Two totally different knives. One is heavier duty, the other (Skyline) is extremely light weight with a thinner blade.

Both are excellent slicers. Oh, and I do concur with Dekz here.

About 15 buck extra (means saving a little bit longer) you can get the wonderfully superb Kershaw Lahar with it's very well heat treated VG-10 steel and let me tell you, it's a sexy cutting beast!
