i'm looking to get skyline soon. i want to know which is better, damascus or plain blade. i'll be using the knife as EDC. it will be used for usual thing like opening mail, cutting cardboard box, cutting occational paracord, opening packages and so on.

if it's plain blade, i saw one at our local walmart. if damascus is better, where is a good place to get one?

if you dont mind maintaining the damascus i would go for it. i have a damascus shallot and its a great knife.

keeping it oiled or applying a dry film lubricant would be all the needed maintenance.

At the hardness they are getting on the Damascus, you really can't go wrong with them. Of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I would say that if the knife is slightly dressier, then go with the damascus. if you are a sheeple heavy enviroment, go with the damascus. if you like the way it looks, go with the damascus. if you answer no to all these questions, go with the plain.

i'm debating on upgrading my EDC

so far its between a buck vantage pro and a skyline in damascus

i like carbon steels but i'm just not sure xD

hows the damascus compared to SR-101? whats its HRC?

p.s. does anyone have them in stock?

I just became a Skyline owner recently, thanks to some prodding. I got the 14C28N stainless steel version. The nice thing about getting that one is I was able to go to WalMart and buy it off the rack.

No waiting for a package to be delivered. :D

The Damascus does look much fancier, just about $20 more expensive, though.

The true BF answer is "Buy both". ;)

i ordered skyline damascus on friday. i'll probably get the 14c28n one from walmart sometime soon.
