kershaw skyline problem

overall I love my skyline but alas I have found one problem with mine, this may be common to alot of folding knives there have prolly been many similar posts, when closing my skyline it hits the plastic spacer in the spine area and flatspots my edge on the belly of the blade, in time sharpening will fix this problem but atleast they used plastic so it does not completly kill the edge. I could prolly close it hard a few times and make a channel or even dremel a channel out but I think this is still an oversite of design.

I'd send it back to Kershaw for fixing.

A quick fix would be a dot of superglue on the area of the blade that contacts the stop. This should stop the blade to spacer contact, though it may not be robust.

Send it back. They'll make good on that warranty of theirs. ;)

Yep, noticed it myself, all 5 Skylines that have passed through my hands have it.

Frankly, it makes very little difference to me, since I sharpen it about weekly, and it doesn't really dull any more since it cut a groove into the spacer. At first I thought of sanding it down, but honestly, it looks like it would weaken the spacer too much for very little actual benefit.

That isnt right. Dont do any mods to it and send it back. My skyline's edge floats above the spacer -as it should.

When/ if you send it in, let us know how the service goes. I have never tested kershaw's CS, but most users tout it as being top notch.

Hey what's the date on your skyline? I have the same problem too on a skyline with a Jan 09 stamp on it. Maybe the later models were modified so the edge doesn't touch the spacer when closed.
