the liner lock on the knife doesnt lock the knife in the open position very well, the lock is barely under the knife when its open how can i make the liner go underneath more?

It may be possible to disassemble the knife and VERY slightly fine file the liner at the inside edge, but it would be a delicate operation. You could easily end up with a sloppy blade.
If you contacted Kershaw, I'm sure this is the kind of thing they would be happy to correct.

Is the lock actually failing? Can you close th blade without touching the lockbar? Is this knife new? Many liner/frame locks only have about a 10% lockup when new to allow for break in. As the lockbar wears it will engage further over across the tang.

If the blade feels secure, then I say do not file the edge of the lockbar, there is some specific geometry in the relationship between blade and lockbar. Give the knife a thorough cleaning, possibly some debris may be preventing the lockbar from engaging entirely.

Got any pics?

I'd give it some time to seat. Flick it open a few (read hundred or so) times. Make sure there's no oil on the blade tang where the lock engages or it will prolong the break in.

I know this is a little late as an answer, but the main pivot is adjustable and the knife parts can be repositioned by loosening the pin screws slightly and manipulating things. This is common to correct tip positioning issues when the blade rubs one of the liners. A slight adjustment may be all that's required to get the liner lock to work properly. Last option, send it back with a note in regard to the issue and they'll correct it.
