Looking to buy a new knife, and i really like the look of the Skyline by Kershaw. I wish to buy the black G10 and plain bead blasted bladed model. But i have some concerns;

1; Will the bead blasted knife rust of the year I plan to EDC it? I want to use this for all tasks. But due to negative experiences with cheap bead blasting im slightly hesitant.

2; Will the bead blasted blade/Pocket clip mark easy?

Thanks, and make sure to add your skyline pics!

This all depends on how well you take care of your knife. The clip is going to mark up. But due to the finer bead blast finish on those clips they are a little more scratch resistant than a more coarse blast on some other knives. As for the blade? If you properly care for the knife it should not concern you much. If you get the standard skyline I would recommend buying a tuff cloth by sentry solutions. Wiping the blade down with it daily would really eliminate most risks of corrosion and rust. If you dont use something like a tuff cloth or other corrosion inhibitor on the blade and are somewhat lazy in your care for knives and get the blade wet with juice or water then tiny rust spots can appear in as little as a day. Removing the rust is easy but in many cases the polishing to get rid of that surface rust is just as noticeable. Either way I wouldnt sweat it too much. And if you get the tough cloth and forget to clean it once or twice your pretty well protected. You could also upgrade and get an S30V version of the Skyline and have better corrosion resistance. Not only that but it will have a stonewash clip and blade hiding any wear you put on it.

There is also a blackwash version that would be more corrosion resistant as well. I don't have any kershaw knives with bead blasted 14C28N so I'm not much help otherwise.

14C28N has nitrogen in it and should be very corrosion resistant. I have heard that bead blasted finishes can cause corrosion but really do not have any examples of bead blasted blades to rust.

Agree with all above.

1. With just basic maintenance, rust shouldn't be a problem. If it gets dirty, wash it, dry it, wipe it down with oil or a Tuff Cloth, done.

2. Not easily. But over time, they will develop scratches from banging around.

I really like the Blackwashed version - blade painted black then stonewashed. Stonewashed is better than Bead Blasted for corrosion resistance and the paint adds another layer of protection. And it hides scratches. Kershawguy has got the 1760BW's for $49 shipped. He also has factory blem 1760's for $29 shipped.

Here are my Skylines. From the top, Standard 1760, Blackwashed 1760BW, S30V 1760S30VCF*, S30V 1760S30VCF*, and Damascus 1760DAM ...

* Carbon Fiber scales replaced with G10 scales. I bought them that way.

my skyline rusted from being damp in my pocket in a matter of hours, it was pretty easy to remove but I don't plan on buying anything bead blasted again
