I haven't been able to find a good thread comparing these two knives, which is surprising because their specs are extremely similar.

Here are the specs I could find online, since I have handled neither of these in person.

Skyline:
Blade Length 3.13"
Cutting Edge ????
Handle Length 4.25"
Weight 2.3 oz
Steel 14c28 sandvik
Handle Material G10
Made in USA
Price $30-$35

Delica FFG:
Blade Length 2.88"
Cutting Edge 2.56"
Handle Length 4.25"
Weight 2.3 oz
Steel VG-10
Handle Material FRN
Made in Japan
Price $50-$55

I'd be really interested in hearing thoughts that compare these two from owners of both. I'll probably only be getting one of these and using it as an all-around blade. One big question would be: does the difference in steel compensate for the price difference?? Much appreciated, thanks.

Also, if you have any other recommendation ideas, then feel free to add. I'm trying to stay around 2.3 ounces and under $50. Made in USA is a big plus for me personally with the Kershaw Skyline.

You can't go wrong with either one. I own both knives and I find that I use the delica more often. I suspect that's because the skyline I own is the red handled one and I own two delicas. I would say buy both. They aren't very expensive, and their both great. If it's not an option to buy both right off the bat, just get the skyline now and pick up the delica later.

My Skyline has a razor-sharp blade out of the box, pretty good F&F. It can only be opened by flipper, the studs are too small and act as blade stops.

Handled a Delica 4 and the bi-directional textured FRN handle grips well, blade is pretty nice in terms of grind, finish except the tip is very fine. Just not into lockbacks.

It all depends on what OP wants.

Linerlock vs Lockback.
14C28N vs VG-10.
Bead-blast vs Satin.
Flipper vs Spyder Hole.
2-way carry vs 4-way carry.

have you considered the buck vantage pro small?

buck vantage pro small:

blade - 2 5/8"
handle - 3.75"
weight - 2.3oz
steel - S30V (paul bos heat treat)
handle material - G10
made in USA
price - $40-$45

That's the correct BF answer.

I'm biased, so start with the Skyline. ;)

None of my Spydercos are Delicas, but I do own a Skyline. Its a great knife for the price. Both companies make good knives, you really can't go wrong with either.

I think you mean the Avid in the price range. The pro runs over 50.

I would suggest against the Vantage vs the Skyline. The flipper is hard to use because it is small and the knife is THICK!

The skyline disappears in my pocket, the vantage is a little chunk despite the low weight. The low rider clip is really nice but I would take the Skyline all day every day.

I can't say much about the spyderco but I like flippers more than thumb holes and I really don't like the feel of FRN. Too light and cheap feeling.

Get all three but I bet you carry the Skyline the most.

That and my Surefire Dart are my two favorite EDC knives.

I've never really warmed up to the Skyline (never owned/handled one m'self, to be honest) but I sure do like my Delicas...

I've got both and both are very good knives. I think the Delica feels slightly more "refined" even with the FRN. I prefer the VG10 steel (just slightly) over the 14c28. The Skyline sure is fun to flip open however.

Hmmm...interesting choice. You can get a knife made in the US by a Japanese company (Kai Cutlery), or you can get a knife made in Japan by a US company (Spyderco). Worth the difference to get a Delica? Yes.

I own both I always go for the skyline the handle does feel better with the delica but the spear point blade on the skyline and the flipper makes it one of my favorite
