I have a buddy who's biiiiig into Benchmades out in AZ. He stopped at a large knife retailer and says they had a prototype Skyline XL in for T&E. He said it has a 3.5" blade, Speedsafe, and dual liners. Of freaking course they wouldn't let him take a picture. :grumpy:

I want. I like my Skyline and think it's a great idea to offer a bigger model. Put me down for a BRN model with tiger stripes KAI!

Anyone on here heard anything more or got any pictures?

I haven't heard anything about it, but it seems like beefing up the Skyline would almost kinda defeat the purpose....?

The whole reason I love it is because it's extremely lightweight and slim and I forget it's even in my pocket.
Just seems like an "XL" version with dual liners would negate that purpose, but who knows, maybe it will be super awesome.

Speedsafe, dual liners, 3.5 inch... Sounds like a completely different model to me.

Agreed that Skyline XL would completely defeat the purpose of the Skyline.

I would think that there is a chance that they have mixed this up with a Knockout or Piston.

We'll have to wait and see what happens in 2015 and beyond to see if this is true.

I would like to see an XL Skyline too, but without the Speedsafe.

Does KAI recall all of their smaller sized models when they offer a larger version or something? I could have sworn the Cryo and 0500's have been offered in multiple sizes without it ruining the original.

Is he sure thats what it was? You would think we would have heard of something like this by now
I agree that these changes would turn it into a whole nother knife.

He said the guy even compared it to the smaller one so he was pretty sure.

It may be a different knife, but I would assume that's the point (pun intended). :)

That would be my guess.

Doesn't sound like any Skyline to me, sounds like a different model. I forgot I even had one in my pocket till someone mentioned their easy to forget your carrying it till you need to use it. Dual liner, speedsafe, larger blade it all equals more weight something that doesn't sound like a Skyline to me. A smaller Skyline on the other hand I can see being done though with a 2.5-2.75in blade, in fact that be awesome as the current Skyline is just a hair over the legal limit for one of the local cities that around me and I'd rather not give the cops any reason to mess with me. Like others are saying I am willing to bet it was a different model.

I think the Cryo and Cryo 2 are basically identical knives, except for size/scale, right?

You're talking about dual liners, assisted opening, all kinds of features the original Skyline doesn't have, so, based on this account you're describing quite a different knife, not just a scaled up identical version of the original Skyline.
