Kershaw Spec Bump Questions

A while back I traded for this knife. Really liked it, but ended up trading it for something that appealed to me more. I'm considering just buying one though because I loved the design, but a few things about the knife hold me back. Namely, the obtuse edge bevel, the coating and speedsafe.

The edge I know could be re-ground to something thinner. I'm curious though if anyone has tried grinding the knife flat to the main bevel? I'm not sure how this would work out with the exotic blade grind. The recurve near the handle seems like it would be problematic. I'd probably just pay someone to do this part.

The coating I would want completely removed. It would be partially removed from thinning out the edge anyways, and I never cared for blade coatings mainly because I use my knives on food often. Would it be difficult to remove the blade coating without harming the blade?

The speedsafe mechanism I would like removed completely. However, if this were done, would there be anything to keep the knife closed?

Thanks.

Sounds like you don't really want a Spec Bump. Kershaw has since released quite a few other knives that may suit your needs better w/o the need for alterations. Take a look at the JYDII. It's similar size, has a beefy blade, very thick 70mil liner, G10 scales that feel great, is a flipper (which is what a Bump would be w/o AO), and no blade coating. The 13C26 is rediculously sharp and has an acute bevel.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll take a look at what else they offer. I know the ZT 0200 looked nice, but I'd rather not pay 100$+ on a liner lock knife. I think any knife I get from them I'm going to end up re-profiling though, just how I am with my knives.
