How does the G10 compare with Benchmade and Spyderco?
How does the lock compare with Axis Lock?
Overall fit and finish and attention to detail, in BM and Spyderco's league?

Thanks.

i have the one with the satin blade. its a fine product. the g10 is very nice, its actually better than the g10 on my benchmade 710. the stud lock is solid, though very different from the axis lock. the only thing about it is i wish the blade had a shiny finish on it instead of a beadblast, but i can live with that. it is an assisted opener and it has a safety to from opening accidentally. its strong and sturdy.

inmop, ken onion is one of the best knife designers around. his knives are well designed, very practical, and very comfortable.

another kershaw that i really like the is lahar, it has a g10 handle with a japanese v10 blade.

The G10 is very high grade and well finished.

I would rate the lock as equal to the Axis lock for all practical purposes.

The fit and finish on the Spec Bump is second to none and more than equal to Spyderco or Benchmade, IMO. I own the Spec Bump as well as numerous other Spydies and Benchmade knives and Kershaw definitely runs with the big dogs.

I highly recommend the Spec Bump as either a collectible or an EDC. You won't be disappointed.

I have several Spydercos (pulled out the military to compare), a benchmade automatic knife & a Griptillian, and a spec bump. I like all of 'em.

The Spec bump, I've just noticed, feels the best in the hand because the handle curves into your palm and there is a nice indentation for your forefinger. Also, it's speed safe opening action is better than my expensive Benchmade auto's. The black coating on the blade does show scratches, which is a negative. No Blade play on any of the knives. The lock on the kershaw takes some getting used to, but it is solid - doesn't look like it would hold up as long as the axis lock under tough use, the spec bump is more of a fighting knife than a general user.

It is definitely the heaviest feeling of the 3 knives.

The look of the Spec Bump was initially a turnoff, but it grew on me. As for the G-10, it is nice on the Kershaw, but the pattern is showing some age, unlike the Military's. This is probably because of the complex etch used. Get all three.

the kershaw boa is little more expensive, but its another ken onion assisted opener, also very well designed. ive always wanted one of these.

Better - it is 3D not flat.
Much Better - best lock I know.
Much Much Better - IMHO on this particular model Kershaw surpass everybody.

Thanks, Vassili.

It's a terrific knife, I second all that's been said here about it's great lock, great fit and finish, beautifully made, razor sharp out of the box, etc.

I sold mine though only because I found it to be a bit too bulky and heavy for EDC.
But of course that's a personal preference; I happen to like slim carry knives.

It it's size and weight are OK with you I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it very highly.
